In this virtual event, Alliance members gathered to reflect on the challenges and triumphs of the 2020 and 2021 program years. Members stated what they were grateful for, what they were hopeful for and what encouraged them through these trying times. Participants shared notable accomplishments, expressed appreciation for their team members and honored those who are no longer serving with their organizations.

Unite Us Virginia

On October 14, 2021,  Jason Jude and Schlonte McGee presented on the Unite Us Virginia virtual resource and referral platform.

 

Being a part of this referral network is free to non-profit agencies in Virginia.

Community Engagement Training

The Alliance hosted a training called Planning Community Engagement With Intention on Thursday, July 1 at 2 p.m. via Zoom.
 

Want your event or program to be a success? You'll have to be intentional about how you engage your community.
 

This training provides a step-by-step guide to develop an engagement strategy that works and gets you the outcomes you desire.
 

Whether it's getting people to an event or recruiting folks to participate in your program, effective outreach is the key!

Fundraising With PWC Gives!

 

In this meeting, we speak with Dr. Vanessa Gattis of The Prince William County Community Foundation to learn about Prince William County Gives! PWC Gives! is a county-wide, 24-hour online fundraising event designed to promote charitable giving in and throughout Prince William County, Virginia.

 

The goal of the event is to bring the county’s nonprofit organizations together in a day of unified fundraising to bring resources to local organizations. Nonprofits will use the funds they raise through PWC Gives! to increase the impact they are making in our community. PWC Gives! is an innovative way to boost local nonprofits' fundraising efforts. It provides eligible nonprofits opportunities to connect with existing supporters and to attract new donors through an easy-to-use online giving platform. PWC Gives! maximizes the ease of online giving and provides widespread visibility that only a county-wide effort of this type can generate.

2021 Annual Meeting and Panel Discussion
 

The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William's annual meeting was held Thursday, June 24 at Old Hickory Golf Club and featured a panel discussion called "The Future of Grantmaking in the Greater Prince William Area". Panelists included Dr. Vanessa Gattis from the Prince William County Community Foundation, Susie Lee from Potomac Health Foundation, Dr. George Leventhal from Kaiser Permanente and Sari Raskin from The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.

 

This gathering provided an opportunity to learn more about the grantmaking process from local and regional grantmaking entities; the opportunity to vote for The Alliance's board members; and the chance to network with grantmakers and other service providers over a hot breakfast.

 

This was a hybrid event where attendees attended in person and also participated through a livestreamed video via The Alliance's Facebook page.

Managing Your Mindset is an interactive presentation that helps you to begin digging into the roadblocks in your mind in order to tear them down. You can have whatever you want in life when you set your mind to it. Let’s begin your journey to even greater success!

• You can manage your thoughts and change your habits
• Whatever you want to accomplish in your life, you can.

The presenter, Dr. Ethel Canty Bothuel, has over 25 years in human capital/culture work in a variety of industries with diverse workforces. She is motivational/inspirational speaker, author, founder, and facilitator on topics including diversity and inclusion; She is a virtual trainer of #STARTNOW—a goal-setting program; leader in strategic planning and visioning (certification), church ministry leader—proclaimer, teacher, nonprofit leadership (certification); curriculum developer and facilitator for conferences and workshops on leadership best practices and strategic planning as a moral imperative. Dr. Ethel has earned degrees in Sociology, Theology, and Leadership. Her primary objective is to improve the quality of life for all with whom she comes in contact.

There's a lot of information out there about the various COVID-19 vaccines, how they work, what their side effects might be and how they can be accessed.

The good news is that Jenee Padmore of The Clarendon Alliance and The Northern Virginia Family Service's COVID-19 Outreach Campaign is here to dispel the myths and share the most up-to-date facts!

She has evidence-based, culturally-sensitive materials that can be easily customized and shared on social media. This campaign also has a speaker's bureau of local health care providers who can engage our most underserved communities in live events and educational opportunities.

This event was held Thursday, May 27 from 1 - 2 p.m. via Zoom.
